Dawn Commander to Haydock
Dawn Commander will head to Haydock this weekend. He is reported to be in the form of his life, and did a super piece of work yesterday. He is absolutely bouncing, and will run in the stayers hurdle that starts the card in Haydock on Saturday. Rain is always going to present a biot of a dilemma, as he does prefer a sounder surface, but with the rapid grass growth at this time of year, racing surfaces can take a bit of rain, and the forecast is predicting light rain both Friday and Saturday, so the ground should not be too bad. He will run if it goes good to soft as he is in such rude helath it seems a shame not to have a crack at a big pot!! On the other hand, both San Telm and Smart Exit need it to rain on the tracks where they are entered! San Telm in Market Rasen (Friday) and Smart Exit in Plumpton (Sunday) and Towcester (Monday), both are in good form, but if they do not get juicy ground this weekend they will head off on a well earned holiday next week. Maypole Lass missed her run in Fakenham yesterday due to a substandard scope, but that should be cleared up enough for her to have a crack in Towcester as well, after which she will also head off on holiday, but will be back next season a bigger and stronger filly. Colebrooke runs in Worcester this evening, and Harry Skelton rides. There is a big field, but quite a few look to be out of form, and as he proved last time in Southwell he is down to a mark off of which he can go close so hopefully he is still in a going mood!
