Thursday 8 May

The weather has been causing headaches!! San Telm and Dawn Commander both entered in the same Market Rasen race tomorrow, so we had to make a call regarding the ground and the forecast as to who went where, and this is how it tumbled out. The main target for Dawn Commander has always been Haydock and although their ground has gone Good To Soft, we will wait and hope that the worst of the weather misses the track. If Haydock does go soft, then we will look at Aintree a week tomorrow (Friday 16th). San Telm needs a bit of juice in the ground, and with the going at Market Rasen tomorrow only Good, the first thought was not to declare, but as we looked at forecast, and the likely runners we decided to declare him. Mr Maynard will make the trip anyway, so San Telm will not be making a wasted journey, and if the rain arrives then the ground could end up on the easy side and he will run. If Stuart gets there and deems the ground too quick he will not run, and will have an entry in Aintree next Friday as well. Colebrooke continues his Lazarus like resurrection in Worcester last night, winning their 2m 4f handicap hurdle. The change of scenery and career low mark have done the trick, and he ran out a game winner. Congratulations to Ben and Jay - it was the first time Jay had seen Colebrooke run, so it was a good night for him, and he gave us a great plug in his interview with Luke Harvey!! Thanks Jay. Smart Exit has entries in Plumpton on Sunday and Towcester on Monday. In a perfect world, Plumpton would get plenty of rain, and Towcester would miss most of it, that way SE would go south on Sunday and the ground would be OK for ML on Monday evening in Towcester. A busy time ahead - hopefully a winner in among them somewhere - they seem in good heart!!
