The deal is done, and now we await the arrival of our new horse. Yesterday we completed the deal to buy Cloonacool, and we are very excited by him. Cloonacool is a 5 year old son of Champion sire Beneficial (who is also the sire of The Fences Farm star chaser Benefit Cut), out of a mare called Newhall. She herself was a very good race mare. She won 4 on the flat, but it was as a juvenile hurdler that she hit the heights. She was second in the triumph hurdle, third in the 4 year old hurdle at the Grand National meeting, and then went on to be second at the Punchestown Festival. Some performance from a juvenile filly to run so well at all three of the big spring meetings!! Her second in the Triumph can be seen below:
She went on to finish second one of the country's biggest handicaps, the Imperial Cup later in her career. She has bred four foals that have run, and three of them are winners, including Valleymount, who has been placed in a Listed Bumper. Cloonacool is still a maiden after 4 runs, but he has run really well this spring, with his latest to runs coming in two very decent bumpers, the form of which really stands up. Cloonacool is a very correct horse, and is very good looking. He stands 16.1hh and looks to have a lovely future both over hurdles and fences. He will arrive at Fences Farm later this week, possibly the weekend, after which he will be ridden for a week before having a short holiday before being prepared for an Autumn campaign. You can see why we are excited by this strong travelling son of a Champion and ae really keen to crack on with him. Cloonacool will be a second club horse for us, and there will be a total of 25 shares available in him. They will be priced at £650 each, plus £20/week all inclusive training/keep fee. The training/keep fee will not commence until he comes into training in July. There has already been a fabulous uptake of shares, and only a handful remain, so please get in touch if you would like a share in this very exciting horse. email - info@nickbrownracing.co.uk - or call 07909 518902
