Ereyna makes the trip to Bangor this evening, where she will face 4 rivals in the 3m Mares Handicap Hurdle. She had a very slight set back after her last winning run in Towcester when she won well. She is well over that now, and has been working very well at home. She was put up plenty for winning, but the form of the race has worked out well enough, and she does seem to have improved at home. The big question mark is the ground, as she has yet to run on anything quicker than Good To Soft, but if she handles the quicker ground, and the better grade of race she should be in with a squeak. For me the danger is Hopstrings at the head of the weights. She ran well enough behind Dawn Commander a couple of runs back, and the fitting of first time head gear could see her back to form, and in a race like this it could be good enough for her to win it! Brendan Powell takes the ride. Todays Racing Post headline is very lazy journalism. If it were not for the fact that they could make a cheap play on words with the headline, the fact that Tom Scudamore made an honest mistake in Cartmel yesterday would only have made about page 5 of the paper. I think it is a cheap shot - just ask yourself - would they have done it if Multiple Champion, and record breaking Tony McCoy had been in the saddle?? Don't think so!!
