Saturday 23 August
A super morning over at Fences Farm. John Bartlett and Bob Graham were in to see their horses. John has a share in Dawn Commander and Bob has shares in Dawn Commander, Smart Exit and new boy Cloonacool. Second lot in the sunshine they got to see Dawn Commander lead the canterers, with Cloonacool, in the group as well. Both look in fantastic form. Mr Maynard then did a really pleasing swinging piece with Ereyna. Third lot, and Smart Exit cantered by with the stunning Mairise, who has arrived from Sir Michael Stoute to start his career over hurdles. On looks he will win bundles of races - he is a very taking individual! We were chatting about the strength of the form of Cloonacool while on the top of the hill, and so we were all waiting with anticipation for the run of Hash Brown in Killarney this afternoon. Hash Brown had finished just in front of Cloonacool in a bumper in May (by 2 lengths receiving 5lbs), and he was running in a very decent €17,000 novice hurdle, against some very talented types - all rated 125+. Hash Brown ran a blinder - beaten just over 1/2 a length by a 142 rated chaser, and but for a small mistake at the last he would have won. He has run to an Irish hurdle mark of around 130, which is very encouraging for the new owners of Cloonacool!! There are still a couple of shares remaining - Cloonacool is cantering and will be running next month - don't delay a his price goes up next month!! Have a look at him on our For Sale Page!!
