Tuesday 4 November

...is a wonderful thing! Maypole Lass hated every minute of her trip to Plumpton yesterday. Heavy morning rain turned the ground Heavy, and ater a bash at the second flight, and with the wind and rain in her face, she decided it was not for her - and nobody can really fault her for that. No one was under any pressure to run her, but Brendan rode an ex flat horse in the first and felt that they were slopping through it and ML would cope. All wrong - but on the plus side, nothing is lost, she sees fine this morning and we will just hope that we can cherry pick our way through the winter on some better ground. Cloonacool also seems OK after his run on Sunday. We will wait to see what the handicapper thinks of his run next Tuesday, and then hatch a plan. Smart Exit, who did a most impressive piece of work on Saturday is declared to run in Chepstow tomorrow. The usual SE scenario has manifested itself, in that every time we find a race for him on some nice Good To Soft ground, the heavens open a couple of days before the race and he ends up running on heavy. He has form on it though, and will go and take his chance - Jamie Moore rides. There are a couple of shares for sale in Smart Exit, and the owner of one of them is willing to take an offer for it. He is on the For Sale Page for £1000 per 1/8th share, but if you would like to buy one, and would be willing to make a reasonable offer I will put it forward to the seller. Have a look at him on the For Sale Page - he is a gorgeous half brother to a grade 1 winner in Ireland - just maturing, and there are better things to come from him this year!!
