Sometimes they slip through the net, and today I will let on a story that is guaranteed to make you groan in disbelief!! Last summer, as usual, our man was scouring the yards of Ireland and France looking for potential stars. We know he can do the job, he put us on to Dawn Commander, he did the deal for Cloonacool, he sourced Paddy The Deejay, and he has popped up with Bold Conquest - oh, and not forgetting Lienosus and Vision Du Coeur for Michael and Fiona Kehoe! Well it was June 10th last year that he rang from France to say he had just seen a smashing horse that really needed to be bought - he had won the week before, and looked a super prospect. Unfortunately at the time we didn't have the clients, and I was not in a position to buy him on spec - a mistake! A couple of weeks ago our man rang to ask if I remembered him sending me the photo of the horse, I replied- yes - he asked if I remembered the name of the horse - I replied - No. He then took great delight in informing me that the horse in question was non other then Irelands Banker for next weeks Cheltenham Festival - DOUVAN!!!!(pictured) I now have a sore backside from kicking myself very very hard!! It just goes to show - when he finds them, we have to be quick and snap them up - we could have been heading to the Cotswolds with the favourite for the Supreme Hurdle!! Tomorrow Paddy The Deejay heads off to Sandown in a warm looking Novices Hurdle. It will be his hurdling debut, and we will be at pains to continue his education. He has a good deal of talent, but he needs to relax and race, and when he does he will be a super prospect. Josh Moore rides. Good to see Terence and Howard last night for a chat about Benefit Cut. A plan has ben made, and all being well BC will head to Haydock Park on March 18th, which will leave a few options open for the remainder of the spring and summer. We are having a 'mini open day' on Saturday, and will be parading and working Bold Conquest - new faces are always welcome - so either way - new face, or familiar one - please call me on 07909 518902 or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk to book yourself a place. You never know - Bold Conquest could be another Douvan!!!
