Thursday 19 March

Smart Exit worked very nicely on Tuesday. Tucked in behind two others he put in his best 'home' display for a long time, and it would appear that he is returning to some sort of form, after being off colour for a few months. Native Princess has started her exercise on the walker after suffering a very small fracture of her fetlock. She will have 4 weeks on the walker and return to work. As she has missed most of her season, and seems to prefer a sounder surface, she will continue on through the summer. The enforced layoff will have done her no harm, as the family all seem to be late maturing and she could well go on to improving on her third place in a bumper on her last run late last year. Her owners have been very patient, and hopefully she can repay their faith in her. Maypole Lass has an entry in Towcester on Monday, in what looks like a pretty competitive mares handicap hurdle. There are a number of options for her over the course of the next week or so, so she will have a full dance card, and we will assess where is best to go based on opposition and ground. Robert Bellamy, Clerk Of The Course at Towcester feels that the ground along the back straight on Monday could be a bit slow and gluey, so she may dodge that engagement. Dawn Commander continues to canter, and although his wound does not look pretty, it is healing nicely. Fingers crossed he can make Aintree. We are looking forward to welcoming the members of the Bedfordshire And District Racing Club on Saturday morning for a Stable Visit. I was honoured to be asked to speak to them at their meeting before Christmas, and it will be lovely to welcome them to see our horses. Stuart has said he will exercise all of the Nick Brown Racing horses second lot so that they can get to see them. It will be a busy morning!! Talking of busy - yesterday was all go with enquiries for no less than 7 shares in Bold Conquest. He is proving very popular, and will do his first proper piece of work this weekend, and will be running within the next 2-3 weeks. If all of these enquiries end in shares being taken he will be pretty much sold out, so if you are thinking of having a share in this smashing horse, who will run for you through the summer, then please get in touch very quickly!! 07909 518902 or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk
