Thursday 2 April

Muddling - the polite way to describe how Maypole Lass' race panned out on Tuesday. As soon as they stood still after the tapes went up you knew your fete, as she needs a good gallop and a strong test - in fairness, in running third in that sort of race, which turned into a 5 furlong sprint, she has run well! She has come out of the race fine, and we will look for a race in 2-3 weeks for her. She will surely not be a maiden for much longer!! Native Princess has resumed ridden work and is going exercising with Smart Exit. Of the two of them you would think it was SE who has been locked up for 4 weeks, not NP!! SE is being slowly wound down ready to be turned out for the summer when the warmer weather arrives. Just a word of warning - Dawn Commander will be entered for Aintree next Thursday, but Stuart feels he may just be running out of time with him. In effect the race may come just a week too soon. He will know a lot more after DC has done a piece of work on Saturday, but in the event that he isn't quite ready to rock - we will go to Cheltenham a week later instead. I will of course keep everyone informed. Cloonacool remains in great order, and it was good to see a fair few of his owners in Towcester yesterday afternoon. Bold Conquest has his entry in Market Rasen on Monday, but there are a couple of horses that are definitely heading there that look hard to beat - so we will look closely at Fontwell on the 10th. Benefit Cut has come out of his race OK, and we will look for races for him on Saturday.
