Sam Jones called time on his riding career last night, and in very fitting style. Sams last ride was on Kayla in the bumper in Towcester. The mare is trained by his uncle Stuart, was led up by his cousin, and he had his mother and grandparents there on duty as well! A lovely way to finish, and we wish him well in his future career! Kayla had shown a reasonable level of form in 2 Fakenham bumpers, and but the ground was a real worry for Stuart yesterday, he only decided to run her after he had spoken to the jockeys after the first race, and that was after he had walked the course at lunchtime! Kayla showed her great heart last night - the first off the bridle, she battled all the way to the line. She was owned and bred by Mrs Robeson, so to win at her local track was also very fitting. A super result. Bold Conquest is declared in Uttoxeter tomorrow. Brendan Powell rides, and he is in great nick. The track and trip should suit better than on his first run for us, and he should be there or there abouts!
