Monday 11 May

We have a busy weekend ahead, with entries for Benefit Cut in Aintree on Friday evening, Maypole Lass in Uttoxeter on Saturday evening, and 3 entries for Bold Conquest on Sunday - 2 chases in Market Rasen, and a staying hurdle in Stratford. Benefit Cut is in good order, and has entries at 2 distances on Friday, just to allow for going and opposition - he is more likely to run in the 3m 1f chase. he is in good heart. Maypole Lass is also on good terms with herself and is entered in the 3 mile mares handicap hurdle - it is about time she got her head in front! Bold Conquest is in 2 chases in Market Rasen, and a staying hurdle over 3m 3f in Stratford - without looking at the entries I would say he is more likely to go to Market Rasen. He too is in super order, bucking and kicking. Dawn Commander ran really well to be sixth in Haydock on Saturday. He has proved that he really doesn't like soft ground! He has come out of the race fine, and we will wait until tomorrow to see what the handicapper does with him before making any plans. There was some slight confusion with lunches on Saturday - just to avoid any embarrassment in the future - as NBR are a large syndicate, I am afraid I have to negotiate extra badges by foregoing lunches for owners. Both Owners Liason Vikki, and myself were slightly embarrassed on Saturday, when members entered the marquee for lunch, as I had given up our right to lunches on the Friday. NBR will now be charged for these. For future reference - unless stated - please assume that no lunches are available - as this is the only way I can get everyone O&T badges and therefore entry to the bar and paddock. If in doubt please ask me before trying to go for lunch! I will of course continue to try and get everyone the 'full works' as usual but unfortunately it is never easy on the big Saturdays (the trouble with having a good horse)!! Talking of good horses - now that Stuart has his Flat license there is going to be the opportunity to join in with a sharp 2 yr old, that will be ready to go in about a month. The syndicate will be made up of 12 members, and they will be able to either lease, or purchase the horse. Capital costs will depend on the cost of the horse, but will not be exorbitant, and the monthly fees will be set at £180 - please email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk if you would like to go flat racing for the summer!! Don't forget - there are still a couple of shares left in Bold Conquest - so if you would like to come racing as an Owner on Sunday then please get in touch (07909 518902) to discuss the options. He can be viewed on the For Sale Page. Finally good luck to Christmas Twentys new co owner John Brayford, who takes the field this evening for Sheffield United in the Division one play off semi final - here's hoping he and Sheffield United play well and can get to Wembley!!
