Friday 9 October
Smart Exit is declared in the 5.40 in Chepstow tomorrow. Top young conditional rider Ciaran Gethings is on board, in this Conditional Jockeys Chase. SE is in fine form - he worked very well on Tuesday, and schooled with all his old enthusiasm on Wednesday. He struggled last season, after a gruelling race in Huntingdon, where he gave his all, after which he was never quite . Now, after a good summer break, and having had his wind tidied up he seems back to his best, and it will be good to get him back racing tomorrow. It looks a competitive heat, and he will probably be a little ring rusty - but he should run well. Back at home, all is well. DC is recovering from his wind op, Native Princess has recovered form her cut knee and is cantering. San Telm is fine after his run, Cloonacool is still very much on course for Ascot at the end of the month. Savingforvegas is doing 2 canters. She is going very nicely and everyone that has ridden her really likes her. Her sarcoid removal is ongoing, but she is not being held up. Christmas Twenty has settled down, and is being ridden again. He is undergoing treatment for stomach ulcers, which we hope will help. Bold Conquest is in fine form, and will have entries in Fakenham (16th) and Market Rasen (17th). With an eye to the future - I looked at a really nice 2 yr old filly yesterday that is available for lease. The paln would be to run her in all weather flat races in Feb/March next year, before making the switch to hurdles over the course of next summer. The lease will be for 12 months, with the option to purchase/extend at the end of the period. She is by top sire Al Namix, out of a full sister to Bobs Pride. Please call if you are interested in joining in the fun - something a little different for us, but it is something we are very much looking forward to doing. Full details will be on the site next week, but call on 07909 518902, or email info@nickbrownracing.co.uk to book your place in this new 10 person syndicate.
