Thursday 15 October
Placing horses to maximise their chance of winning is always a juggling act, and this morning we have had a few 'balls' in the air! Bold Conquest has an entry in Fakenham tomorrow - a good class chase, but sometimes the races at the Norfolk track to tend to cut up. Mick Channon has Knock House entered, who although having to give BC plenty of weight, is a class horse. As this is BC's first sight of UK fences we have decided to miss Fakenham. He does have an entry in Market Rasen on Saturday, but as I speak, that is becoming more and more competitive - it remains an option, but just to keep everyone on their toes we can add another! Next Wednesday there is a Novices Limited Handicap Chase in Worcester over just short of 3 miles. The track and fences will suit him very well, and although the ground can always be a bit of a worry, Stuart, who ran Kayla there yesterday reports it to be in super shape. So now Worcester next Wednesday becomes an option, and when we see the entries later today, we can add this into the mix! Sorry to his understanding owners, but it is all part of the job - and we are only trying our best to get you to the winners enclosure!! I hope you understand!! Kayla yesterday ran a really tough and genuine race. Outpaced leaving the back straight she battled on really well to finish a hard fought second. On a stiffer track she will come into her own, and she will be winning again soon. Still with Worcester in mind, Native Princess has been entered in a 2m Mares Novices Hurdle over there next Wednesday as well - she is in super form, and the drop back to 2 miles, and the fixed brush hurdles will suit her really well.
