NOW A WINNER!!! Sneaking Budge is our Juvenile Hurdler for the 2015/16 season. We have had terrific fun with the juveniles we have purchased in the past, with a Cheltenham Festival runner and a Newbury winner. I purchased 'Budge' in October at the Horses In Training Sale at Tattersalls in Newmarket. He is a 3 yr old son of Nayef, and is a big, scopey, athletic individual that is tailor made for jumping. He is from a superb family - his half brother was second in the Derby to Camelot, and went on to win the Breeders Cup Turf and be Champion Older Horse in the USA. Sneaking Budge had one run as a two year old, which given his size is understandable. He was then gelded and given time before returning to the track in September. He had a further 2 runs, gaining a mark of 69. He then had headgear applied and ran at Windsor - this backfired as he resented the blinkers and was well held. He arrived with Stuart and is team on a Friday lunchtime and had his first visit to the jumps field on Saturday morning where he jumped poles and grids and ended up skipping up 3 flights of hurdles. Stuart reports that he was very enthusiastic, and forward going, and enjoyed the experience very much! He says he is a 'lovely horse'. He Made his debut for the yard and new connections on the flat in Chelmsford - just a run to get to know him, and learn about how he behaved at the races. Stevie Donahoe rode him and he ran a sound race, getting very badly hampered inside the final furlong. Stevie said he would have been third or fourth, and that he was unlikely to be seen under the lights again - and that he would be a lot of fun over hurdles. His next outing was his hurdling debut, where he was slightly keen over the first mile, and made a very bad mistake 3 out that stopped his run. Josh nursed him home and said that he was a nice horse. It was then on to Sandown on a Saturday! Only the 4 runners, but 2 looked t have the beating of him on paper. Heavy ground again, but Josh bounced him out in third, and crept into the race travelling nicely. He got two smashing jumps up the straight, and went away after the last for a comfortable 5 length success. A slight niggle kept him off the track, but he is now 100% again, and returns to training next week after a good holiday! His share price is £500. The training/keep fees are set at £25/week (all inclusive). This is a cracking individual that will continue to progress over hurdles, before making his mark over fences as well!
