Tuesday 15 December
Cloonacool made a great start to his chasing career in Plumpton yesterday. Their ground was in great order, and perfect for his first start over the bigger obstacles. Travelling away on the inside he jumped really well, just making one mistake at the third last, which broke his rhythm a bit. A squeeze from Josh and he was right back on it, and was bang there jumping 2 out. He was headed on the run to the last, where there was no easy stride, so Josh let him run to the bottom of it and pop, which although costing him any chance of winning, did at least ensure that he got round safe and sound. A good performance against some very decent horses, and one that he will build upon. There will be plenty of fun to be had with him over fences. He seems fine this morning, and should be out again in around 3 weeks. A quick trip to Fences Farm this morning to show Mr Larry Fitch around, and show him Bold Conquest. Larry enjoyed his first visit, and has purchased a share in BC. We wish him luck with his first venture into ownership, and look forward to seeing him both at Fences Farm, and on the racecourse in the near future. We got to see second lot exercise this morning - they did one canter and a breeze. Smart Exit looked in fine form, along with this weeks other runners (San Telm is in great order)!! Bold Conquest breezed in rear with Savingforvegas, who looks like going to Fakenham on Sunday for her hurdling debut! Bonnelis Warbler has departed to continue her career in the point to point field, which has meant that Sneaking Budge has found himself moved around to the front yard in her place. He is in fine form, and we will start to look for another race for him later this week!
