Friday 4 March
Two out of three run this weekend. San Telm goes to Doncaster tomorrow, 5 declared in the 4.55 and Brendan Powell rides. It looks like a tight little heat, but he should run very well - he is in good form! Sunday, just Christmas Twenty runs in Huntingdon - 9 runners in his heat - the 4.00 handicap hurdle, and Josh Moore rides. If he turns up in the right frame of mind he should also run well, he too is in fine form at home! The ground has gone soft on the chase course in Huntingdon, so Bold Conquest will it be asked to run over fences on that. We had the option of taking him to Doncaster, but that heat looked like being very hot, and they even inspected up there this morning to see if they could race today - so with all things considered it was decided to stay at home with him this weekend. There are 3 options for him next weekend - Chepstow (hurdle) on Saturday, and Market Rasen (hurdle) and Warwick (Chase) on Sunday. One unforeseen consequence of not getting Bold Conquest out this weekend was pointed out by one of his owners, who sent me a text saying 'Hope you realise I have to take the Mother In Law out on Sunday now. Cheers Mate!!' For the sake of family harmony, this person will remain nameless - but I hadn't thought things through had I!! Smart Exit is on course for Chepstow next Saturday.
