Sunday 6 March

Yesterday did not go to plan. A decision to run San Telm in Doncaster was made yesterday morning, and with just 4 runners it looked like a race well within his grasp, even if the soft ground would not suit ideally. We were having a lovely afternoon, until we came to saddle him, when it was clear he was having a little nose bleed. This was very likely to have come from inside his head, but there is a chance that the blood could have emanated form further down in his respiratory tract. Vets were consulted, and although his heart beat was checked, and all was found to be perfectly normal, Stuart felt that, not knowing exactly what was happening, he would rather not run and put the horses system under undue pressure. ST will continue to train as normal, and will be scoped after exercise on Tuesday, when we will find out what is going on. As I mentioned it is very likely to have been just a nose bleed. There are 2 races for him next weekend, so he will have entries in both on Monday, ad if the scopes are ok, he will get another trip out next Saturday (Chepstow), or Sunday (Market Rasen).A shame about yesterday, as as it turned out, only 2 finished, and we look certain to have finished second at least!! Yesterday was a long trip for nothing, but spare a though for the Many Clouds team, who travelled all the way to Kelso, only for it to be abandoned yesterday morning due to a waterlogged track! A short trip today to Huntingdon. Christmas Twenty likes short trips!! He takes is chance in the handicap hurdle at 4.00pm. It looks like a nice race for him, and if his head is on the right way round today, he should run very well. Lucy McGarrity was in yesterday to give Smart Exit his final massage and manipulation before his run next weekend. He had worked well first lot.(Still a share available - see For Sale Page and get in touch 07909 518902). Lucy also took a look at Cloonacool, just to make sure all was well after he made the mistake last week. All is well with him and he will head to Ludlow or Ascot in 3-4 weeks. Visible Light worked first lot yesterday, and will have an entry in Towcester on the 17th. Bold Conquest is in the best place this weekend, with the ground being as it is! But it was nice to see the form of his last run franked in Doncaster yesterday, with Zeroshadesofgrey finishing a close second in the valuable handicap hurdle. We were weighted to finish upsides him, so the form is looking solid. He remains with options next weekend over both hurdles and fences. The weather looks like it could play ball as well!! Fingers Crossed!!
