Tuesday 8 March
Sunday we headed to Huntingdon with Christmas Twenty. He had disappointed in Fakenham before finding his way again in Towcester on his last start when the cheekpieces were employed. We hoped that he could consolidate that run, something that he hadn't done before. He behaved perfectly once again, and is growing up in that regard. He travelled well early, but was the first to be shoved along down the back straight. Josh kept niggling away and he kept responding. Turning into the home straight it looked like he would be swallowed up, but he kept on finding for Josh's urgings, and eventually battled on well for third. The trip on the flat quick track was too sharp for him, and we will step him up in trip on his next run. He seems fine after his exertions. This weekend we have a number of entries. San Telm has scoped clean this morning and will take his chance in either Chepstow on Saturday or Market Rasen on Sunday. Bold Conquest missed the Cambridgeshire National due to the very soft ground, and has entries in a staying chase in Warwick on Sunday, and hurdles in Chepstow and Market Rasen on Sunday. His participation will depend on ground and opposition. Smart Exit is entered in a Conditional Jockeys chase in Chepstow. Conditional Jockey Cieran Gethings has had the ride on him all season and gets on well with him, so when we saw this race in the calendar a couple of months ago, it became a big target, so it is sods law that Cieran has gone and got himself suspended this weekend!! There are plenty of other worthy conditionals that we can employ. Stuart had also entered Reyno in 2 races for Conditional Jockeys on Sunday, with a view to using Cieran, but he too will have to look elsewhere for a suitable pilot!
