Thursday 31 March
A beautiful morning, and great to see Claire and Jess, along with Ben over to Fences Farm to see their horses. Ben came to see his 3 yr old Top Gary, who was broken last year, and is back in to have a refresher course, and will be cantering on the gallop before returning to a summer at grass. TG is a very tall boy, and has a big frame to fill, but he is coming along really well, and looks an exciting prospect. Claire and Jess were in to see Bold Conquest and San Telm, who both went very well in front. They are both in fine form. San Telm will go to Cheltenham on April 13th, Bold Conquest will be aimed at a staying hurdle in Exeter on April 12th. Exeter will suit him really well, and is the most suitable track available, as all of the other options are on much tighter tracks! Smart Exit is in good order, and will be tried in blinkers at home over the course of the next few days. He could have an entry in Chepstow on April 9th. Visible Light is also in grand order, and saw his form franked in Southwell when, Riddlestown, who beat him a matter of inches went in again. This time he won by over a length, but again the first and second pulled 27 lengths clear of the third! Hopefully the handicapper will look upon it in the same vein as he did when he beat VL. We have looked at getting VL out again before any new mark comes into effect, but there are no options for him - he will go to Market Rasen on April 10th. There was a surprise package this morning. Stuart put a 3yr old filly through the stalls a few times, and it was deemed necessary for someone to occupy the neighbouring stall and make a bit of a fuss so that she got used to a bit of banging and bashing about! This honour fell to a rather unathletic beast, that is renowned for carrying plenty of condition! In fairness he was seen to break well, and showed a decent turn of foot for one of his size!! He wouldn't have blown a candle out afterwards!! A video of this athleticism can be seen on our Facebook page!!
