Friday 15 April
San Telm travelled to Cheltenham yesterday more in hope of a good run, rather than expectation! His owners this season, have been just fantastic. Mary has stuck with him through thick and thin, Mick and Claire joined the party last summer when taking on a 10 year old with ust one run to his name the winter before was a big ask! We did tell them that we thought he would win a race this season, and he duly obliged on his last appearance in Market Rasen last month. Having run 2 very solid races in competitive handicaps at Cheltenham in the past, and with the ground in his favour we thought that we would take our chance in yesterdays equally competitive heat. In reality it was a thank you to the owners who stood by him, and to give those that could come a day out at the home of jump racing, and a chance to tread the hallowed turf of the parade ring. In truth we said before the race that we would all be delighted if he ran his race and finished in the first 10 of the 19 runner field. To be leading jumping 2 out, and in a three way go for the lead jumping the last was way beyond expectation! His 11 yr old legs just couldn't quite sustain him on the run in up the hill and he finished third. The race was run in a downpour, but as we made our way to the winners enclosure, nobody cared!! We were just delighted to be there! Josh had a great spin and ST thoroughly enjoyed himself as well!! He seems fine this morning, his old bones just a little stiff, but he should be out again in 3-4 weeks!! Josh ensures us that there are still some great days to be had with him!! There is a 1/4 share available in him if anyone is interested - just give me a call on 07909 518902 for further details. After Mister Miyagi's very impressive win in the opening race of Cheltenhams April fixture for Ben and Jay, Bens week got even better yesterday when his lovely mare Savingforvegas, who was sadly retired from racing earlier this year through injury, was scanned in foal to Blue Brezil! We are sure that she will make a cracking mum, and are looking forward to seeing her first foal next year! Good to show Paul Wells the sights and sounds of Fences Farm yesterday, and we wish him the very best with his first venture into racehorse ownership with Pull Together. Paul has taken a share in this very exciting 4 yr old, which leaves just one share available in him - again, please get in touch for further details - or have a look at him on the For Sale Page. 07909 518902 or info@nickbrownracing.co.uk
