Sunday 1 May

Bold Conquest's tepid display in Uttoxeter yesterday was just not him! Usually the model of consistency, and always one to give his best, BC just wasn't at the races from the moment the tapes went up, and ran a very lacklustre race. Josh pushed and scrubbed him all the way, but he got little response from his partner. Josh said the ground had probably gone against him with the recent rain, but that he was just never travelling and able to keep his position. BC seemed fine after the run, and was fine when he got home last night, but Stuart reported that he may have been a little flat if anything. BC has been in work for a long time, and had a minimal break last summer - it may be that he has had enough for now and needs a holiday. Stuart will monitor him over the next week. Tomorrow Christmas Twenty is declared to run in Kempton. He has turned a corner since the cheekpieces have been applied, but tomorrow will probably be his stiffest test to date, with a big field lining up. With Brendan Powell off games, and Josh going to Warwick to ride Paddy The deejay, Tom O'Brien will be in the saddle. CT, Like BC has had a busy season, and this is likely to be his last run before a summer break.
