It has been a long week at the Goffs UK Spring Sales in Doncaster. This is always a great week - but you need to have some stamina! The week starts on Tuesday with a long day of unraced 3 and 4 year olds going under the hammer. We came away with a superb looking and very athletic filly that looks a cracking prospect, and is outstanding value! A photo and details can be found on the For Sale Page. Wednesday was a shorter day made up of mainly Irish Point To Pointers, and the annual Million In Mind draft. The day produced 2 lots of over £250,000. Yesterday was a long day of dispersals from top yards, and included our own Christmas Twenty. Sold to dissolve the Partnership that owned him, he looked a million dollars at the sale, he proved popular during the day, and seemed to be constantly on show. Alice who came up with him on Wednesday afternoon, had a busy time of it, and had him show himself beautifully. CT went through the ring at 5pm - we had an idea of a range of what he could make, and hoped for the top end of that, but also didn't want to give him away, and did put a sensible reserve on him, and had a back up plan. Having been popular through the day we became more confident that he would reach his reserve on the back of a strong trade, and were delighted when the bids kept rising - ending up bang on the best price we expected of £15,000. He has gone to Mickey Hammond, and will be plying his trade in the North of England. We wish new connections the best of luck with him. Thanks to everyone that helped us over the course of the last week. It wasn't just the horses I was busy with - I was proud to be showing 2 horse boxes off just outside the sale ring, and we even managed to get one of those sold too - with around a further dozen quotes to do today! All in all it has been a really busy week - but a good one! The next stop for the sales is early June in Ireland for the Goffs Landrover Sale, and top sale of 3/4 yr old stores, but there is a very strong chance we will have been purchasing more young stock before that.
