Monday 20 June
A miserable morning, but thankfully the end of the week is looking much drier. A good job, as we wouldn't get much cricket in if it stayed as wet as it has been. It looks like being a dry day/evening, so we should get a good game in! It is always a cracking night, and there will be much fun and laughs along the way! Pull Together and Bold Conquest now have their shoes on and are on the roads and tracks getting their conditioning work in. They will be cantering in around 4-5 weeks, and it will not be long before they are on the track. PT will start off in a bumper, and BC will resume over hurdles. Stuart will pop some headgear on BC, just to focus his mind. He has worn cheekpieces in Ireland before he arrived with us, and it looks like the right time to re-apply them. Most of the rest of the squad will return to warm dry stables in 7-10 days, although sneaking budge will remain in the field for a little longer, as he was late getting out, and deserves a nice break after being shut in his stable for most of the early part of the year! It is still in Stuarts mind to possibly give him a spin in a soft ground staying flat handicap right at the tail of the flat turf season. This will serve a nice reintroduction to racing, and act as the perfect precursor for a winter over hurdles. Molly Childers will come back in from The Elms at the same time as all the rest. The Flemensfirth Filly, and Be Turners 3 yr old Top Gary will remain on holiday until the autumn, when they will return to Fences Farm to begin life as racehorses proper! They are both lovely horses, and are a lot to look forward to!!
