Sunday 23 October
Nice to wake up at home this morning!! It has been a busy week - hence the lack of updates! From Tuesday I was in France. A stop over in Avranches for a night, and a meeting on the Wednesday before decamping to Deauville for spell at the Arqana sales, that were this year accompanied by a trade fair. A wonderful couple of days with great company, super food and even better wine - I even found myself in a nightclub until 4.00am - really thought those days were over!! Managed a look around the racecourse on Thursday morning, and was lucky to see the previous weekends Champion Stakes winner Almanzor stretching his legs. Back home and straight down to Cheltenham on Friday, good to be racing there again. A good catch up with a few folks, and plenty of interest in new syndicates. Saturday morning a call from Liam Bates resulted in the sale of the last share in the Flemensfirth 3 yr old. We wish him the best of luck with her. That sale meant that the shares in all our horses are now sold - so it is a good job I will be in Newmarket tomorrow trying to buy new blood! Yesterday in Cheltenham, Stuarts horses ran OK -it was good to catch up with more folks interested in syndicates. A catch up with Stuart who reported on the work yesterday morning. Cloonacool, who will be entered for the Handicap Hurdle in Ascot next Saturday worked very well and is is super form. Sneaking Budge was also impressive. Apasionado did enough, but was not asked any serious questions, he will be out again in mid November. Molly Childers was another to work well and is on course for her debut in a couple of weeks. Bold Conquest is in good form, and will be declared for Chepstow on Tuesday. It looks as though Josh Moore will be in the saddle with Brendan Powell going to Bangor On Dee. Today I have been out to Newmarket looking for horses that will be going through the ring tomorrow. Disappointing how many were not there, but we should get to see them early tomorrow. We have a couple of targets to have a go at, including a 2 yr old for a winter all weather flat campaign! There are a number of 3 year olds as well that will be perfect for a hurdling career, so we should be able to get a couple for more syndicates this week! Please get i touch if you would like to join in the fun (nickbrownracing@gmail.com) or call 07909 518902. Our shares sell well, so don't leave it too long!!
