Friday 17 February
In Cheltenham at the sales yesterday - not often you see a horse make £480,000 - a world record for a Point to Pointer! A crazy trade - and no bargains to be had! I had travelled down on Wednesday evening after getting a complete drenching at Towcester where Land League ran well to be second in the Novices Hurdle. The weather had started off nicely, but deteriorated quickly, with the occasional showers that were forecast - turning out to be more of a cold, windy spell of prolonged rain!! LL is very much a work in progress, and pretty much ran to the form of his rules debut last month. The winner Solighoster is thought to be quite decent, which I am pleased abut for he was just under a length ahead of our own Pull Together when they made had their one and only run in Irish Points last spring. LL has come out of his race fine, and will run again in 3-4 weeks. We have hit the crossbar this week, with Chandos Belle, and Land League both finishing second, so hopefully Molly Childers can go one better this afternoon, in Fakenham's concluding bumper. She is in rude health, and is a very promising filly, that Stuart has always liked. Fingers Crossed she can get her win bracket this afternoon. The other one to fill the places was Domesday Book, who ran really well on his debut for Stuart yesterday in Leicester. Apasionado is also in great form, and is entered in Doncaster nest Wednesday, and Huntingdon next Thursday. He will also have an entry in Kempton a week tomorrow, and we will choose where he goes early next week. How he runs next week will determine where he goes for the rest of the season.
