Friday 10 March
Will we see Molly or Wally tomorrow. Molly Childers heads to Sandown's Listed Bumper tomorrow, and has a bit of making up to do! This race has always been the plan since we started to get to work with her in the autumn, and everything has gone to plan - apart from when she threw a winning chance away last time in Fakenham. She started out on some decent ground in Doncaster in November, where she finished second to a very talented horse in Ravenhill Road with the fourth horse winning his next start, and the third placing in a decent race on his next start. Then she headed to Towcester in December where she was just touched off by Sweetlittlemystery who went on to win in Ascot a few weeks ago - the fourth filly also coming out and winning her bumper. The form of this race looks strong. The plan was then to win her bumper in Fakenham in February, as a prep for the race tomorrow. Again everything was going perfectly to plan until she threw the race away. She actually started idling about 3 furlongs out when she hit the front, and then cocked her jaw and ran very wide off the home turn. She was 4 lengths ahead of the eventual winner at the time, and if she had put her best foot forward from 3 furlongs out she would have run out a comfortable winner that day. She was actually only beaten a length, having given at least 8 lengths away from the home turn alone! This is testament to her level of ability! She has cheekpieces applied tomorrow, which, witrh these on, and a more conventional track, we will hopefully see the best of her!! I am very much looking forward to seeing how she gets on!!
