Tuesday 21 March

Tricky Silence was declared on Good ground on Sunday, by yesterday afternoon it was a lot softer and once again he showed that he was too weak to handle those conditions. TS is a baby, and Josh was careful to mind him all the way round, we had wanted to run on Good ground, so that he could show us a bit of what he shows at home, but the weather got in the way. He now needs one more run to get his handicap mark, after which he can run off a proper mark in his grade. Thanks again to Michael and Jamie who have leased him to us, at least we got to go to the races and have a day out - which was always the plan after we had to draw stumps with Sneaking Budge for the season. Today Petethepear makes his chasing debut in Weatherby. Tomorrow Cloonacool will do a piece of work, after which the vet will give hiom a thorough examination. His work had been very good, but he worked poorly on Saturday, and Stuart wants to get to the bottom of wether it was just an off day, or whether something caused him to struggle. After tomorrow, we will know. Off to The Elms to see Vegas and Elvis this morning, and to organise for Molly Childers and Chandos Belle to go there in the very near future. Both fillys are well, and in need of a holiday. Stuart had hoped to give Molly a school before she went out, but those plans have been shelved until the autumn. She ran in Point to Points before she came to us, so we know she can jump! I am looking forward to next season with both fillies - there are a few wins between them!! Just an update - although I still have shares available in Land League ( Stuart and I can hardly believe it - he is a cracking horse, with a very nice future)!!!! I am still on the look out for more horses - it is just that they are so very hard to buy at the moment!! The trade has got very strong - pulled up by some massive prices being paid at the top end! As usual we are being very selective - turning down unsuitable specimens every day. It does get frustrating - but it is a tried and tested method, and we will end up with the right one at the right price in the end!! Tomorrow there will be news of Land League, The Flemensfirth filly (Queenohearts), and others.
