Saturday 22 April
It was quite a day yesterday. The M25 played its usual Friday tricks, and the trip down from Bedford took over 3 and a half hours!! Land League was running in the opener, and handicap hurdle, out to prove that his last run was all wrong on bad ground in Uttoxeter. The groundstaff had done a fabulous job, and the ground was good. LL looked a picture in the paddock, and with just the six runners, it looked like a golden opportunity for him. He jumped off in swcond and jumped and travelled beautifully, rounding the home turn Brendan gave him a squeeze, and he changed clear and surged past the long time leader. Then it went wrong, he was caught in two minds two out, stepped at the hurdle and took a crashing fall. Brendan bounced clear and got up quickly as did LL, and he was soon caught by Stuart and the team. He was sore afterwards, and was thoroughly assessed at the track. After an hour he had a big haematoma come up at the top of his leg, so Stuart took him to the vets practice, around 15 minutes away so that they could x ray him and make sure he had done no more serious damage. Thankfully the images came back clear and he was allowed to travel home. After another nightmare journey home (it took us 4 hours in the car)! Land League came off the lorry ok and got straight into his supper. He has walked out ok this morning, and will head off for a well earned rest when he is well enough to be turned out with his pals. Before he took a tumble yesterday, he was giving everyone a glimpse of what we know he is capable of, and it will mean we can all dream big about him over the summer. He is a very exciting prospect, and has the talent to rank highly in the chasing ranks when he is unleashed over the bigger obstacles. There are just 2 shares left for sale in him, so if you would like to come and see both him and the facilities at Fences Farm then please get in touch. A 1/12 share is just £1800, plus £200/month all inclusive training/keep fee. On the current market values of horses he is great value - and we could not recommend him more highly - he will take his owners to some really nice places in the future!! 07909 518902 or nickbrownracing@gmail.com Talking of value for money - the prices achieved for the horses at the Cheltenham Sale on Thursday evening were nothing short of astronomical - so I am delighted to have secured a gorgeous new horse for the team at Fences Farm in a private deal earlier in the day. He is currently in Ireland, has been placed in his only 2 runs in Irish point to points, and is out of a half sister to a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. He is a cracking prospect, and I will reveal more about him when he arrives in the UK.
