Tuesday 2 May

The vet was in this morning to scope a couple. Tricky Silence got a clean bill of health and the all clear to run on Saturday. We are looking forward to his first crack at handicap company! This is likely to be his last run of his season, as he is still a shell of a horse that could do with a bit of a break. Thanks to Michael and Jamie for letting us extend his lease for another month so that we could just get this one more run out of him. While he was in this morning the vet also had his scope down Chandos Belle to confirm that the little bit of work that she had done on her epiglottis had worked. He is very happy that the op was a success, although he did say that there may be another small piece of work to be done on her when she is back in work - but all in all he is very happy with her. After the arrival of Now McGinty, Clondaw Native and Theclockisticking, tomorrow will see the arrival of the fourth new equine face to join the Fences Farm string this spring. Classic Ben is a very exciting 4 yr old. He is by Champion Sire Beneficial, my favourite sire, and one that we have had great success with over the years. I have purchased a few by him in the past, and Stuart has trained them all to win. Benefit Cut was the first, followed by Savingforvegas, and more recently Maria's Benefit. I always have my eyes out for his sons and daughters, and spotted Classic Ben a few weeks ago after he finished 5th in a very good 4 yr old maiden point to point, the winner of which was sold for £140,000, and the second for £50,000. The 4th and 6th from this race went on to win their maidens over the course of this last weekend, both gaining ratings of 90+ which are very good, so the form is very very strong. He has had one run since then, when he fell 2 out when in strong contention. He is a cracking prospect, and one that I feel is great value for money. Further details will go on the For Sale Page tomorrow, along with some photos - but please feel free to get in touch if you would like more details about him. nickbrownracing@gmail.com or 07909 518902
