Tuesday 11 July

Lovely to welcome 2 first time visitors to Fences Farm. on a glorious morning, they got the full tour, including all of the horses that are now back in in the yards, those that are still out on their holidays, a look at the jumps field and a drive up the gallops! They got to see their new 'interest' Kaloci, who is on a short break, out in the field with her 2 new friends, Grey Warbler and Chandos Belle. All three of these talented mares need a bit of juice in the ground, so they will remain on holiday until the start of August. There are just 3 shares left in Kaloci, who will be a fun horse when the mud is flying! Stuart has the yard and the horses looking great - and when the next block of 3 new stables are finished it will be all set for this season! It looks like being a very exciting season! After Fences Farm I popped in to The Elms Stud to look at the latest acquisition Figarella Borget, who has settled in very well at her new home. FB is beautifully put together - not the tallest, but everything is in the right place and moves accordingly - at just 2 she has a lot of developing to do, and I am sure she has a very exciting future!! Tattersalls hold their July sale in Newmarket this week, and I will be there. I always like a juvenile hurdler every year, and as yet we have not found a suitable candidate for that job - although we are keeping a close eye on a possible target on foreign shores! This mid season sale is not a favourite of mine for buying ex flat horses to go jumping, but I will be keeping my eyes open while I'm there - you never know where the next star is coming from!!
