Friday 28 July

Before the English Football League kicks off again in a weeks time, Ben Turner managed to pop down and see all of his horses. It was good to see him, along with daughter Ruby, and son Findlay. They had a good walk all around the yard, and the horses were well supplied with apples and mints that Ruby and Findlay had bought for them! A few more horses are just getting cantering now, and I have to say they all look in fine form! Early next week - Chandos Belle, Queenohearts, and Kaloci will all head back to their stables - Chandos Belle has really changed for her break - she is bigger and stronger, and even the vet said how much she had improved when he gave her a flu jab a couple of weeks ago! Hopefully she is over all the problems that she had for the last half of last season, and with a good break under her belt she can go on to prove what a good filly she is this winter. One thing is for sure, she must be very genuine, as she was suffering since Christmas, but never let anyone down very badly - she kept trying and doing her absolute best! After Ben, Ruby and Findlay had seen all the horses - and the cat - we headed off to the Elms Stud to see Bens horses there. It was the first time he had seen Savingforvegas' foal, Elvis - and he liked what he saw. Elvis is coming together very well, and will hopefully keep up the family tradition of winning a few races! Ben also got to see 2 yr old Franc Roc, who looked so bad when he arrived we did seriously wonder what had turned up - but has now developed into a really gorgeous young horse! Ben gave him the prize of 'most improved player'. It was good to see him and Ruby and Findlay - and we wish him the very best for the upcoming season - hoping he stays sound, and his club finish well in the league!
