Wednesday 9 August
It was a very wet day in Doncaster yesterday - where it basically poured with rain all day! Nothing bought! Saturday was a bit different - it did rain, but luckily for me that was just at the time when I had nothing planned, so I could sit indoors and watch it teem down! The early morning was beautiful, the sun was shining, and it was glorious at the top of the gallop. We had a few folks in to see their horses - they saw Cloonacool and Land League work well with Kayla second lot, and saw a really nice bunch of horses canter third lot. In amongst these was Classic Ben, who can be seen in the clip. He is really impressing, and looks a lovely prospect. The form of his runs in his Irish Point to Points has worked out really well, and he is great value for money. I did have a chat with his former handler when I was in Doncaster on Monday night, and he said he will improve a great deal, as they would not over train them, preferring instead to see them improve slowly on the track whilst gaining experience. He is a horse that Stuart likes a great deal - so have a look at him on the For Sale Page, and get in touch - nickbrownracing@gmail.com (07909 518902). The rain started to fall as I left Fences Farm, and it there were some very heavy showers around. the thought of attending a BBQ in the afternoon was unattractive to say the least - but by 2.30 the showers had passed and the sun was out - BBQ it was. A lovely afternoon, followed by a cracking evening in Bedford Park, watching Feeder and The Kaiser Chiefs - all in all a great day! Monday I was back at Fences Farm to meet Liam who was in to see his filly, Queenohearts. She didn't make the track last season, but she showed the right signs and has definitely done well for a summers break. Hopefully we will get a trouble free run with her now! All the fillys are in now, and Chandos Belle has really benefited for her break - there should be a lot of fun to be had with her this winter, as she could just be well handicapped. There is a share for sale in her - again, have a peek on the For Sale Page and get in touch.
