Friday 6 October

Classic Ben will not make the trip to Fontwell tomorrow. The ground at the Sussex track is currently Good, and they are having to water to maintain that. They race there today, and are forecast just a little shower overnight, so we thought that there was a strong chance that by the time Ben was due to run at 5.20pm tomorrow afternoon, the ground could be riding on the faster side of Good. It is the start of a long season, and he is a nice horse - there is no point in playing Russian Roulette with him at this time. We will be patient, and wait until there is some genuinely softer ground around. He has been entered in Worcester next Thursday. A real shame there is not a bumper in Uttoxeter on Sunday, as their ground is soft, and Now McGinty makes his hurdling/yard debut. Purchased by The Garratt Family in the spring, he was not able to run before a summer holiday, but gets to go to the races on Sunday. This autumns hot property in the conditional jockey ranks, James Bowen has been booked to ride - good luck to all. Back at Fences Farm Stuart manged to get a big schooling session in yesterday. Sneaking Budge was described as awesome - and is in fine form. Land League schooled over all the fences, including the Open Ditch, and was very good. Chandos Belle, Theclockisticking were also very good up the hurdles. A few of the horses that need soft ground are getting close to full fitness, Chandos Belle, Sneaking Budge, Queenohearts included, they are all looking fabulous, and we cant wait to get going with them! Apasionado will be back ridden again very soon - the vet is very happy with his scans, and he is another one we can't wait to get going with again - he is doing plenty on the walker, and looks in great nick. Domesday Book will also be back very soon!
