Monday 9 October

Monday morning - and time to do a round up of the team, and their plans. After a very pleasing morning on Saturday, when the vast majority of the horses worked or went a shade quicker - Stuart and I sat down and looked at race options for them. He has them all in great form - and they look a million dollars. The soft ground horses, who came in later than the ones that can run on better ground are now coming to hand and are about 2 weeks off of their seasonal debuts (ground permitting). Those that have run have come out of their races well, and are due to go again, some as early as next weekend. So - in no particular order - here is what the plans look like for each of our horses: Kaloci - entered in Ludlow on Wednesday, but very unlikely to run as they are anticipating Good Fast ground, and she definitely wants it on the soft side. She has an entry in Newton Abbot on Friday against the geldings, and we will see what the ground looks like mid week. Other races available to her are- Chepstow (15th), and Carlisle (19th), Ffos Las (21st), Worcester (25th), Southwell (26th). Queenohearts is really well - she looks great, and is moving so much better than last year. She needs a couple more weeks until she will be ready to make her debut - her entry options are: Worcester (25th), Southwell (26th) Warwick (10 Nov). Land League has come out of his race on great terms with himself. he now goes chasing, and will have 2 entries - Market Rasen (21st), or the more likely is Kempton in a Novices Handicap (22nd). Cloonacool is also A1, his cuts and bruises have healed well - he has not done too much since his run as his next target is in Taunton on Nov 1st. A race that is framed perfectly for him, on a flat right handed track - ideal! Sneaking Budge is also in flying form and his options are Huntingdon (17th), Exeter (24th) Carlisle (26th) and Ludlow (26th). He will start off in a 2m handicap hurdle, and was electric in his schooling last week. Molly Childers has also come out of her race in good form, and will have an entry in Chepstow on Saturday (14th) - a 2m 3f Mares Novice hurdle, this is an entry to have a look as we would prefer to keep her to 2 miles at present- other options for her going forward are: Ffos Las (21), Worcester (25) and Uttoxeter (3 Nov), all over 2 miles. Chandos Belle worked very nicely on Saturday, and is a far different filly to the one that we saw last season. She will ply her trade in 2m hurdles this winter, but may just start off with a spin on the flat in the near future to put her spot on for hurdling. Her flat options are Goodwood (2m) (15th), Leicester (1m 2f) (17th) - after that hurdle races in Southwell (26th) and Fakenham (1 Nov), come into play. Classic Ben swerved Fontwell on Saturday, and has an entry in Worcester on Thursday, and will be entered in Chepstow on Sunday. Pull Together is going really well - like Queenohearts - so different to last season! He will have entries at the end of the month in Bumpers (TBC). Apasionado will soon start ridden exercise, after a long stint of going on the walker twice daily. All being well he will have a good spring campaign on his favoured Good ground. That sums up all of the ones in the Black, Red and White. Other plans include Maria's Benefit, who will wait for 2m Mares maiden/Novice hurdles later this month. Top Garry, who is going nicely at home will be ready for another bumper run in 2-3 weeks. Grey Warbler (Mares nov/mdn hurdle 2m - 2m4f) - her entries will start in a couple of weeks. Blackbird has an entry on Wednesday in Towcester - their ground is on the quick side - Stuart will walk it today - if he thinks it is safe she may get the go ahead to make her debut - her mother enjoyed a sound surface. Legal OK is also a possible for Towcester - Maria will not be risked. Now McGinty ran in Uttoxeter yesterday - he was not the easiest of rides for 7lb Claimer James Bowen, but as the race wore on he got better and his jumping improved. He finished third, and did a lot wrong - so plenty more to come!
