Monday 13 November
No Monday morning feeling this morning, after a terrific day at the sports yesterday. Maria's Benefit and Classic Ben travelled to Sandown. MB in the 2m handicap hurdle. She led them a merry dance, jumped for fun, had them strung out at half way and kept on all the way up the hill. Her only challenger unseated at the last, leaving her to take the £20,000 contest by 9 lengths for Paul and Jan. She has now won 4 from 7, and three from 6 for Stuart. She is a really nice prospect, and has a lovely future. Classic Ben ran in the concluding bumper - he had been a very good second on his rules debut in Chepstow last month, and once again advertised his talents with another good second in a high quality heat. He has gained a new owner this morning, and we wish them luck with their first venture into ownership! They have chosen well - this horse has a fantastic temperament, and a big engine! There is plenty more to come when he starts to jump a hurdle! There are just 2 shares left now - so be quick if you want to get involved - he is great value at just £4,000 for a 10% share - just look at the values of the horses he has beaten!! email nickbrownracing@gmail.com - Congratulations to Harriet who won the Best Turned Out with both MB and CB yesterday - once again - they looked superb!! On Saturday we went down to Wincanton - a few years since I have been to this very welcoming rural track, and despite the miserable weather it was an enjoyable afternoon. Pull Together finally made it to the track, and ran well for a long way in very testing conditions. He will have benefited from the outing having been given plenty of time since his Irish Point run. He has come out of the race well, and has been for a trot around the farm today. Before we set off for Wincanton we got to see a superb piece of work by no other than Sneaking Budge. SB was very good, working with Hillcrest Fire, Molly Childers, and Theclockisticking. He went as well as I have seen him go, and as long as all is well tomorrow, he will get an entry in Leicester next Monday. Fingers Crossed!!
