Friday 24 November
Today is Black Friday - that (not very) old tradition, where merchants and vendors heavily discount their wares! More of that later!! It is only apt that Black Friday should follow what can only be described as a Golden Thursday for Stuart and his team at Fences Farm. Yesterday Alice, and Nuala travelled up to Market Rasen with Molly Childers and Vinegar Hill. Molly contested the Mares' Handicap Hurdle, taking a step up in trip on Handicap debut. All day folks were telling me that she was a certainty, but for some strange reason I was never confident - I am not usually short of that - but MC had never won, and until she had her head in front I would always look for hidden dangers. In the end there were none, MC cantering away from her rivals approaching 2 out for a facile 14 length success. A super run, and delighted for The Ravenstone Partnership, who have been patient with her - letting Stuart stick to the bumper route last season, to give her the experience, and then letting her find her feet over hurdles at the minimum trip before stepping her up. We will see how the Handicapper reacts to her win, and make a plan after we have seen her new mark on Tuesday. She seems fine this morning, and has had a little canter - she never has a day off bless her! We were all having a lovely day, and enjoying the chilly sunshine in North Lincs, when Vinegar Hill strolled into the paddock. Like Molly, he seemed to be well fancied on the track, with a host of people saying they thought he would win - and as it happened he did - despite his best efforts at dislodging Brendan with a circuit to go in the handicap chase. A rare event, a horse making such a bad error, and actually making ground - I suppose the quickest way to the other side is through them! VH was another impressive winner. A double for the yard - Stuarts first double, and he wasn't even there to see it - he was living it up at the Sir Peter O'Sullivan lunch in London! Never mind we all drank his fizz for him!! Huge congratulations to him and his team - they are such a great bunch, and the horses are all so well cared for. You will always be greeted with a smile and a laugh, and you would not get a warmer welcome anywhere - the horses really do come first! This brings me on to Black Friday - if you can't beat them join them - if you would like to join in the fun with a share in a horse at Fences Farm, who's runners have produced 5 winners, 2 seconds, and 2 fourths from their last 9 runners - now is your chance to grab our Black Friday discount offer! For today only I am offering the last remaining share in Sneaking Budge for the bargain price of just £250 - this is a huge 50% off!! For your £250, you will own a 4% share in this fine big imposing young horse, who was a very encouraging fourth in Leicester on Monday in a £20,000 hurdle over an inadequate trip! You are entitled to an O&T badge when he runs, and will receive 4% of his net winnings each year. Stable visits are welcomed and encouraged, and you know that the Trainer has the horses in the very best of form. Keep and training costs are fixed at £25/week all inclusive of all bills! - call/text me on 07909 518902, or email nickbrownracing@gmail.com to take advantage of this exceedingly generous offer - offer ends at 5pm this evening!!
