Valentines Day - and love is in the air - especially from the owners of Kaloci towards their little super mare! Kaloci ran a great race in defeat on Monday - probably a career best! We knew going there that asking a tiny mare like her to give 16lbs to a filly that had run really well in a good Ascot Juvenile on her previous start was a very big ask - but Kaloci had to run to keep her on schedule for races in the spring. Kaloci travlled well under her welter burden, in the very deep ground, and was just unable to concede the penalty after the last. The fact that the bookmakers had her odds on to win was astonishing, and we all said so before the race, in fact Stuart was on At The Races saying just that. We are always honest about our horses chances, so I am amazed that some still feel the need to take to social media to blame everyone else bar themselves for losing money on short priced favourites!! Amazing!! Kaloci seems fine after the run and will be out again around the start of March. One that isn't running this week is Molly Childers, who had a dirty scope on Monday and misses Towcester today. She will head to Doncaster in early March for a Listed hurdle over 3 miles - she should relish the step up in trip. This weekend Apasionado will hopefully make his seasonal debut in Market Rasen. He sustained a minor niggle at the end of last season, and we have been waiting to get him out again. He will run on Soft. Also entered in Market Rasen is Chandos Belle, who will run in the mares handicap hurdle over 2m2f. She scoped clean on Monday, and is in fine form. The trip should suit well, and hopefully the reason for her last run was getting stuck in the super deep ground in Leicester. Soft will; hopefully suit better! Now McGinty also has entries this week. I am still working on the replacement for Cloonacool, but at the moment getting everything in order is proving very difficult. Vendors are asking plenty of money for their stock, and the lease deals that we were trying to secure have so far fallen through. We are at The Cheltenham Sales tomorrow and will be looking to get the bidding finger going! There are a few that look to fit the bill, and hopefully we will be able to secure one or possibly two!
