GETAWAY MIXIE

With the recent record of purchasing mares we had to have a go at another bright prospect! With recent wins for Queenohearts (Listed), Chandos Belle, Kaloci and Molly Childers - we just had to have this lovely mare the moment she came on the market. Getaway Mixie looks like a top prospect. She is by the very popular sire Getaway, the sire of Getabird, who has an excellent record of siring good mares! Her dam is an unraced sister to the bumper winner and good hurdler Hold Court. Getwaway Mixie would have won her maiden point to point in the spring, but knuckled over on landing after the fourth last on debut. She then ran in December, but she pulled up, and was found to be a sick mare after the race. Given time to recover, she reappeared on Friday 9 March where she was second in a decent looking field of mares in Borris House. The winner of the race was Sinoria, a half sister to Minella Rocco, and both Getaway Mixie and her were held up off of a slow pace. Both came through to challenge approaching the last, where Sinoria got a slightly better jump, and went on to win by 3 lengths. These 2 mares covered the ground from the fourth last in a time 5 seconds faster than the 5 yr old geldings, and in the same time as the winner of the 4 yr old geldings maiden - the winner of which was trained by Gordon Elliott, had the best of the ground, and carried 2lbs less. He went on to be sold at the Cheltenham Festival sale for £330,000 - the top lot at the sale, and Sinoria made £130,000 at the same sale.As you can see, Getaway Mixie has a good bit of speed, and we think she is a really good addition to the squad. She is likely to run in a bumper this spring, with races at both Cheltenham and Punchestown on the agenda. We have already had a very good uptake of shares and there are just a couple left.
