A busy weekend - lots of owners in on Saturday morning to see their horses. Neil and Liane were in to see their horses, with friends Malcolm and Sharon, who got to see their horse, San Seb for the first time. Ben was in to see Sneaking Budge, Nick popped up to see Kaloci and Figarella Borget, Ollie joined us briefly for second lot, along with the Garratt family who popped in to see recent dual winner Now McGinty do a piece of work. It was a dry and mild morning, and we haven't been able to say that very often recently.Second Lot, Now McGinty worked upsides Domesday Book, with Sneaking Budge in behind. Stuart rode Sneaking Budge himself, and was really pleased with his work. SB is entered in Taunton on Thursday, and if he can take his recent 'home' form to the track he should be in good shape. Classic Ben did 2 canters with a work mate, and he and Pull Together will school once more over fences before being roughed off for their summer breaks. San Seb worked well with Kayla - SS is very much taking the eye, he does the work of a 4/5 yr old, and doesn't bat an eyelid. He comes out of his box all ready and willing for a days work, when really he should be getting a but tired. He will not run this spring, but this will be an ideal prep for the start of his career in the autumn. He could well head off for an away day gallop next week, as another step on his education to becoming a racehorse. Kaloci and Queenohearts are both on the wind down now, both just on the walker ahead of making the short trip to The Elms where they will summer out. Land League is in superb form, and worked really well under Stuart - we are just waiting for better ground with him. Chandos Belle is also in good order, and heads to Market Rasen on Wednesday. Molly Childers heads to Kempton this afternoon - she is in fine fettle, and the better ground should suit her far more than the very soft ground in Market Rasen on her last appearence. New girl Getaway Mixie just popped on the walker on Saturday, as she has an infection around a rear joint that needs clearing up, but that didn't stop Neil and Liane taking a real shine to her, and they purchased the remaining share in her on Saturday afternoon. We wish them the very best of luck with her, she is a lovely filly. Getaway Mixie is now sold out, but we are rarely without a horse to sell and having sold the last share in GM at 2pm on Saturday - a new horse arrived from France at 6pm. We are thrilled to have secured Lion Rouge (pictured) - who ticks lots of boxes, and has been purchased for an initial campaign over hurdles through the summer. Lion Rouge is a 4 yr old, with 3 hurdle starts in France under his belt. On the latest of these, last Wednesday, he was 5th in Fontainbleu, where he was jumped off 10 lengths behind the field, spent most of the race tailed off, and out of the back out the TV - was still last on the crown of the home turn, before staying on very eyecatchingly to finish a never nearer 5th. He was given a very strange ride to say the least, and the trainer has only trained one horse to be placed thus far. Lion Rouge is by a very good French sire - Rajsaman, a son of Linamix, Rajsaman is the sire of dual Classic winner Brametot. LR is out of a mare that was placed in Listed company on the flat, and was rated around 85, who has also bred a Listed flat performer that would be rated in the mid 90's on the flat. So as you can see he certainly has the right profile to be lots of fun through the summer. There are just 25 shares available, with 8 already spoken for. Shares are priced at £350 each, plus £25/week (all inclusive) training/keep fee. The plan is to run him through the summer, and see where we are with him at the end of the summer. If we think we have had the best out of him by then he will be re-offered for sale, but if we think he is worth carrying on with - we will continue with him. We will keep an open mind until we see what he can do. It will be great to have a summer jumper again - a chance to go to the races on warm evenings, in shirt sleeves, and enjoy a long cold one at the sports! Please get in touch if you are interested, as a third of the shares are already spoken for, and I can see the remainder selling very quickly. We are certainly building up another strong squad of young horses for next season, and there will be more to come! nickbrownracing@gmail.com 0r 07909 518902.
