It was so nice to go racing on Saturday in the sunshine!! A beautiful warm day started with the arrival of a new mare from Ireland. A Little Chaos had finished a very close third in a 4 yr old Maiden Point To Point the previous Sunday, and we snapped her up during the week. She is a cracking filly, by the ultra tough a consistent, Yeats, out of an 80+ rated flat mare that won five races and nearly £100,000. She had a little canter, and as you can see from the clip below, she is a beautiful mover - very athletic, and she has a super attitude. She is for sale, and can be seen here, following the other new recruit Lion Rouge. Please get in touch for further details. nickbrownracing@gmail.com or 07909 518902. There are still a couple of shares for sale in Lion Rouge - who will be running over hurdles over the summer - he should get his UK career underway in just a couple of weeks and we are very much looking forward to getting going with him! It was good to see Liam, 2 Ollys and Alan and after watching the horses work second lot we set off to Uttoxeter to see Molly Childers run a career best to finish second in the mares staying handicap hurdle. She is such a tough genuine mare - and just ran into a well handicapped one on this occasion. She will make a lovely staying chaser next season. With the warm weather, Stuart has been able to get the horses turned out in the field at last. The mares have all gone up to the Elms Stud, and will be joined by Molly Childers and Maria's benefit later on. I found a photo yesterday - taken in late April last year - in it were three horses - Maria's Benefit, Queenohearts and Molly Childers. At the time I took it they shared just one win between them - a bumper win for Maria. Twelve months on - Maria has won 5 more, including Listed and Grade 2 success. QOH is a Listed bumper winner, and Molly Childers is a handicap hurdle winner, and unfortunate not to have a couple more to her name. What a nice bunch!! Getaway Mixie is still in the vets, but she is well on the way to a full recovery from the adverse reaction to an antibiotic, and should be home very soon. She is a very tough girl, a characteristic that will hold her in good stead when she starts her career under rules!
