Monday 10 September

Saturday was a busy one - Maria's Benefit and San Seb went over to Ben Cases' Edgecote yard to work on his circular gallop. Stuart felt it was very important to get SS away for the morning, he would get to go round a few bends, and it would throw the switch in his head, and ignite him mentally. Ciaran was in to ride SS and after the work he phoned to say how pleased he was with him. SS had loaded and travelled to Bens like an old pro, and took the piece of work with a few of Bens horses, and Maria, all in his stride. All plans remain in tact, and after a few easier days, he will be prepared for Huntingdon on the 4th of October for his debut. Paul went with Stuart, and saw Maria's Benefit give Harriet's arms a good test. MB is in great order. Back at Fences Farm we had a fair few folks in. Harvey came with two friends to see his new girl Kaloci, who did a couple of canters, third lot, with Queenohearts, Now McGinty, Pull Together and Pine Warbler. QOH and PT both look terrific, and I am sure they will both have tremendous seasons in their new disciplines - QOH over hurdles and PT over fences. Second lot we saw a lovely bunch of horses. It was also good to see Colin and Darren make the trip from the West Country. Colin had shares with us in the past - Native Princess and Smart Exit - and is looking to get back involved in the ownership ranks. It was a pleasure to show him Our Bubba and Go Millie Go - and hopefully we will be seeing him on the racecourse with one of them over the course of the season. On the subject of Our Bubba - he is still for sale! He really is a gorgeous horse - and from what he shows at home he has a very very bright future. By the same sire as the Gold Cup winner Might Bite, out of a half sister to a very talented, but sadly ill fated novice hurdler, he has it all - looks, athleticism, attitude and talent, and we think he is a very very smart prospect. Please get in touch if you would like more details about him - remember - I said all the same things about Maria's Benefit, and a lot of folks kicked themselves that they didn't buy her - so don't miss out twice - OB could be getting you to some very nice meetings in the spring! We think that much of him!! After breakfast, Fran, 'Ferrari' Sheridan, Tim and Deidre were also in to see their horses. Fran and Sheridan have shares in Molly Childers and Getaway Mixie and they saw Molly Childers work with Theclockisticking - Molly was a real eyecatcher - she worked very well - and is lined up to make her chasing debut around the 11th - 14th of October. Also out this lot was Classic Ben who has really grown into the most impressive horse. he achieved so much as a young man last season, that you can be forgiven for forgetting that he is still just 5 yrs old - he goes chasing this season and really looks the part! Third lot Getaway Mixie swung on with 2 work mates, and she too looks very nice indeed. After all her problems in the spring it is just great to see her on the gallops - and as you can see from the video, she goes very nicely as well. After a busy morning it was good to meet up with Mat and Sarah, for an afternoon at Olney Rugby Club - to see Huntingdon play. We sponsor one of the Huntingdon Stags players, and a fair few folks, thanks mainly to Mat and Tom, have become owners and members with us! Sadly the Stags were defeated, but it was a great afternoon, with a few pints, and the chance to catch up with plenty of people I hadn't seen for a very long time!! This week we have new faces popping into Fences Farm on Wednesday to see the horses that we have shares remaining in and Maria's Benefit will head off for a schooling session at Warwick. They are all getting close to running now, and the excitement for the forthcoming season is certainly rising. Please get in touch of any of the available shares on the For Sale Page appeal to you - they are all lovely horses - andd will give you some great sport over the winter! There are not many left now - so don't delay!! nickbrown racing@gmail.com - or 07909 518902.
