We head into October, with quick ground still dominating going descriptions. This is fine for most of the horses that are ready to run, or close to being ready to run, as they would all prefer a sound surface, although we do have to be careful, as untold damage can be done to horses when run on ground that is too quick. This week the Edmunds yard have a number of horses entered to run. Maria's Benefit had 2 entries, but has already bypassed Sedgefield today due to their quick ground, and her next option is Warwick on Thursday. She will be making her chasing debut if she gets to run. San Seb has an entry in Huntingdon on the same day - he is in the Junior Bumper that concludes the card, and the hope is that Ciaran will be able to ride both MB and SS if they are both declared. On Sunday, Classic Ben has an entry in the Beginners Cahse in Uttoxeter - he has swerved a possible entry in Fontwell on Friday, as, although he needs a sound surface, we do not want to risk him on too quick ground at this stage of a long season, and Uttoxeter always do a very good job with their ground. He is an intended runner should their be no Good To Firm in the going description, and could well be taking on the ever popular Lil Rockerfeller, who is also entered to make his chasing debut. It is not all about winning first time over fences - it is more about getting a clear round, and some confidence into them on their first go at a different discipline, so the quality of the opposition is a little less important for their chasing debuts. Saying that, CB has been excellent in his schooling, and is a much bigger and stronger horse from the one we saw last season, and he could will improve for the switch to chasing - if so there will be a huge amount of fun to be had with him over the winter!! A Little Chaos, who we purchased in the spring, and subsequently sold to The Garratt Family, has an entry in the bumper in Fontwell on Saturday, and we wish her new owners the very best of luck should they get to run.
