Thursday November 1st
We are in need of rain - well some horses do, and some don't! It's always the way! The soft ground horses are now having to be held back a touch - usually by now we would have had a decent amount of rain, and there would be some nice juice in the ground, but as it stands the tracks are still being forced to water to achieve Good ground and that isn't soft enough for the likes of Queenohearts, Pull Together and Kaloci. Their time will come. As I type the ground in Uttoxeter is Good to Firm, the c,erk there does a superb job, and hopefully he will get it back to good ground so that Our Bubba can make his rules debut there tomorrow. San Seb has an entry in Carlisle on Sunday, but he will bypass that and return to the scene of his debut in Huntingdon in a couple of weeks. Classic Ben heads off to have his breathing looked at on Monday. When we know if he has issues or not, we can decide the next course of action with him. Molly Childers will have a speculative entry in a mares listed chase in Market Rasen next week, it is really just so that we don't miss an opportunity, as she is more likely to go to Uttoxeter a few days later. Lilly's Arc put so much into her run, she was a little stiff and sore for a few days afterwards, but is fine again now and bouncing along wanting to get on with life again! She will be out towards the end of the month - probably on some softer ground (if it arrives). Getaway Mixie is back cantering again now and is moving very well - hopefully no more hold ups with her going forward. Go Millie Go is doing plenty of cantering, and will quicken up for the first time next week - talking to Stuart yesterday, he said that he hasn't changed his mind about her, and thinks she is very nice, he is looking forward to getting her out in a bumper - there are still 2 of the 6 shares available - so if you don't want to miss out on this classy mare, who is by Milan, out of a half sister to Time For Rupert, and Mahonia - then have a look at her on the For Sale Page, and get in touch. Figarella Borget was due to come in to Fences Farm on Monday, but that couldn't happen, so she will arrive in the next few days. We are very much looking forward to getting her back - as a 3/4 sister to the mighty Sprinter Sacre - she is a lot to look forward to! Land League is doing plenty of recuoperation work on the walker after having a chop removed from a joint a few weeks ago - all being well we can have him back for a summer campaign - which was the plan this year, before a niggle held him up. All in all the team at Fences Farm seem to have the horses in good order, they are all running well. It has been a long week at the Horses In Training sale in Newmarket - we have horses to buy - but finding the right one for the right budget, that passes the vet, has so far been impossible - last day today - so hopefully we can hit the target today!! I will not be at the yard on Saturday - as I make the annual pilgrimage to Twickenham for an Autumn International - this year it is South Africa - and it should be a good day!
