Sunday 27 January

Our Bubba ran a super race yesterday on his hurdling debut. This lovely big son of Scorpion was found to have a breathing problem after his bumper run, where he travelled very strongly before stopping very quickly. That was a hot race, but we had expected better from him - so it was nice to see him run a race full of promise yesterday. He will appreciate a better surface, and a slightly longer trip, but it was the right place to start, and the right race to start in. The plan was always to sit mid division, and give him as much confidence in his breathing as possible, so to finish 4th in a decent heat, under not ideal conditions, and not being bottomed out certainly stands him in good stead for the future. OB is still a big weak horse, and there will be some super days out for his owners John and Colin. Back at Fences Farm Lilly's Arc worked for the first time since last Saturday, when she had worked upsides Havana Hermano who certainly ran the best race of his career on Friday in Huntingdon where he was third in a hot novices hurdle, that had been won in the past by Buveur D'Air no less. Last week LA had really made HH go to work, so if her homework is anything to go by, she is a smashing prospect, which just hardens our resolve to run her on the right ground and in the right race, because if we get it right, she could end up in some nice races later on in the spring. There are a couple of shares available in her, so get in touch if you would like to join in the fun with this cracking little filly. Pull Together is back cantering, and Getaway Mixie is stepping up her work gently. Classic Ben is in great form, and will have an entry in Sandown next Saturday, where he is an intended runner so long as he gets in the weights proper. Queenohearts was scoped last week, and has the all clear to up her work in preparation for her intended run in Sandown later in February.
