Monday 4 March
All eyes will be on the weather forecast this week. Firstly in the area around North Yorkshire, where both Pull Together and Figarella Borget have entries on Wednesday. Both will need a bit of juice in the ground, and currently the ground there is on the soft side of good, with quite a bit of rain forecast on Wednesday morning. As it stands I would imagine both would be declared, and hope that the forecast rain arrives. Bryony Frost, has, at this stage been booked to ride Figarella Borget, and Ciaran will ride Pull Together. Both went well on Saturday - FB just had a fun spin off the top with Getaway Mixie, and Pull Together did three 3/4 speeds and looked in fine form. Getaway Mixie really took the eye, and showed that she is a mare with abundant ability - hopefully she can get over what his holding her back just at present, and show it on the racecourse - she is very talented. We will also bee keeping a keen eye on the forecast for Cheltenham. It is confirmation time for Queenohearts this week, and she will remain in both of the mares races at the Festival, but it will need to be soft ground for her to run. The ground down there is currently good, with just under 4mm falling locally yesterday. It looks like Wednesday could see up to 15mm, but there is not much more in the forecast. Their going stick currently reads 7.0, and if we go back to the December meeting, where the going stick read 7.4 - the jockeys all reported that ground to be lightening fast, and so, as you can see - they will need plenty of rain before the festival! QOH is in good form, and went well on Saturday. Also working on Saturday were Lily's Arc, who has now done plenty of schooling, and is reported to be a natural. She will have entries next week, starting in Market Rasen on the 14th. Land League looks in fabulous form, and is ripping his riders arms out every day, he is such a good looking lad, and is in great order. Molly Childers did a sparkling piece of work, and will go to Bangor On Dee later this month, and Classic Ben did his usual - worked very lazily - but that his him, and he is on course for Uttoxeter on the 16th. Fingers crossed the rain arrives for everyone!! Harriet has asked me to draw your attention to her latest venture for which she is looking for sponsorship - she is taking part in a charity race in Warwick in aid of the Air Ambulance, on 22nd May.
