Tuesday 7 May

Over a week since the last update - and what a week it was. On Monday we travelled up to Chester - a perfect spot to have a night, on the way to the Holyhead ferry crossing on Tuesday. After a cracking afternoon in the sunshine, with a pint or two, we met up with Mat and Sarah, and headed out for one of the best steaks we have ever had. If ever you find yourself in Chester, make a reservation at Upstairs At The Grill - a superb little restaurant, that really does do a good steak. Always a risky proposition recommending eateries, but thankfully Mat and Sarah were blown away with the quality of the food, and the level of the service - It is worth the trip alone! On Tuesday we crossed the Irish Sea, on our way to The Punchestown Festival. This is now an annual trip, and this year it rates as a few of the best days I have had on a racecourse. We missed the awful weather on Tuesday, but enjoyed two beautiful days weather on Wednesday and Thursday. The racing was top class, winners were found - Ruby retired, and we enjoyed the very best of Irish hospitality - including some very late nights! If you have never been to the Punchestown Festival - then do so - it is second to none. It is a different feel to be part of the away team, and there were some superb laughs between all of the English over there - of whom there were many! Back at home - Figarella Borget, Queenohearts, and Getaway Mixie and Molly Childers have now all gone out for the summer at The Elms. Most of the horses are now out for the summer, with just Land League still in for a summer campaign, and he has entries this week in Huntingdon and Warwick. Pull Together is also still in work, as he heads to the sales later this month, he will benefit for a summer at grass, and it was great to see his half brother finish an excellent second in the valuable and prestigous Goffs Landrover Sales Bumper over in Punchestown last week. We have a few shares left in the 3 yr old filly that we have leased for the forthcoming season - no capital payment, and nothing to pay until she starts into training in the autumn. Get in touch for further details. I also have a couple of shares left in one of our EIS investemnt schemes, email me for all of the information - nickbrownracing@gmail.com We have already been busy buying stock for these, with a half brother to Gold Cup winner Sizing John already on the team. We hope to be adding to the racing team this summer - with either a point to point recruit, or a couple of 3 yr old untried store horses. The 3 yr old route, is one we have not exploited very heavily in the past, but the untried horses that we have secured include San Seb and Queenohearts, so it is a route that we are keen to explore - please let me know if you would like to join one of our new syndicates.
