Sunday 26 May

We just have the one horse in training over the course of this summer - Land League, and he has recovered well from his small wind op last week. He had a sore throat for a day or two afterwards, but is reported to be back to normal now. With just one in, it is a quieter time, but there are still places to be and people to see - and this week we were in Doncaster for the Goffs UK Spring sale. A 3 day sale, that kicks off with 3 yr old store horses on the Tuesday, followed by 2 further days of Point To Pointers, and Horses in Training. The store trade on Day 1 held up OK, as many were wondering what the effect of the Gigginstown withdrawal from the market would have, and the HIT section produced a world record of £620,000 for Interconnected - who goes into training with Phil Kirby. To Dissolve The Oakley Partnership, we offered Pull Together as lot 829. He was recorded as being bought back in - and heads back to Stuarts with a new owner. PT is a horse that we have always liked, but he has been plagued with ill health last season, and we wish his new owner the very best of luck with him - all of his owners will watch his career with interest. The sales season rolls on to Cheltenham next week, and after that there are the 2 big National Hunt Store sales in Ireland - The Goffs Landrover Sale, and the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, where we will be for a few days. Our Bubba remains in controlled exercise on the walker at Fences Farm, but will be out in the field in a couple of weeks, before returning to training in September. At the moment we have shares available in a couple of horses - Land League who will run all summer, and will be out again in around 3 weeks. Go Millie Go, who didn't get to run last season due to niggley little problems, but had impressed in what she had done at home, and there are shares available to lease to a 3 yr old filly by Winged Love, out of Bleu D'Avril. Her dam Bleu D'Avril, won 1 of her 8 starts, and was placed a further 4 times, included in Listed company over hurdles. She finished her career with a rating of 132 and is a half sister to the very talented Royal Auclair - who won 10 of his 59 starts and was also 4th in a Gold Cup, and second in a Grand National. Bleu D'Avril has already bred a black type performer in the shape of April Blue, who was third in an Auteiul Listed hurdle, and reached a rating of 130+ after winning a handicap at the same track. Our 3 yr old filly has also had a very significant pedigree update - as she is now the half sister to the dam of one of the most exciting prospects in Ireland - Blue Sari, who won on debut in a Gowran bumper in January by 11 lengths, before being touched off by 3/4 length in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved from the very start, in a beautifully bred filly, who has been into Fences Farm and been broken in, and impressed everyone that has had anything to do with her. This is a free lease, with no fees to pay until she returns to Fences Farm in the autumn. What a chance to get involved in the fantastic family for just £25/week (all inclusive) please get in touch to confirm put your name down for one of the few remaining shares that we have. 07909 518902, or nickbrownracing@gmail.com.
