Thursday 20 June
It has been a very soggy Royal Ascot Meeting thus far - but great to see Crystal Ocean win his Group 1 when victorious in the Prince Of Wales' Stakes yesterday under Frankie Dettori. This Sea The Stars colt was bred by Mrs Robeson and her brother at Southcourt Stud, and I remember seeing him there as a yearling - he was a standout individual even at that stage. Mrs Robeson would have been very proud of him, and with his Group 1 in the bag, and his impressive pedigree he will now, rightly find his place in the stallion ranks in the future. Great to see the sire, Nathaniel have a hot few days, with his daughter Channel, winning the French Oaks in Chantilly on Sunday, and Dashing Willoughby scoring in a Group 2 in Royal Ascot yesterday. We are offering the only horse by the sire in the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale next week - so the timing of the sires hot streak couldn't have been better! The horse we have on offer is out of a black type mare, and is a very scopey and athletic individual, who has really impressed everyone that has had anything to do with him. Hopefully he, along with another we have on offer will sell well, and we will have had a good first round of selling from our first investment syndicate With all the wet weather around, Worcester, where Land League was entered, flooded, and was abandoned. The meeting was transferred to Southwell on Sunday, so he is entered there, and again at the same track on Monday. We will look at entries and assess where to go nearer the time. Pleased to say that we have managed to secure a new horse for a new syndicate. A 3 year old unbroken store horse, by Flemensfirth out of a half sister to Mr McGoldrick. This athletic young horse will travel over to Cheshire to be broken in, and then head down to The Elms Stud. A view on his immediate future will then be taken - it is not beyond possibility that he could go into training later this summer, but we will let the team that break him guide us on that. We wish The Ivo Partnership the very best of luck with him. They have chosen well, as Flemensfirth is a top class sire, and we have had a super success with his sons and daughters - Queenohearts, and Havana Hermano. We head out to the Tattersalls Derby Sale in Fairyhouse next week, where we hope to get our hands on some more young talent - which will be Foe Sale - get in touch if you would like to get involved - 07909 518902.
