Tuesday 9 July

The busy store sales season was wrapped up in Deauville last week. We were not selling - but we had hoped to purchase at least one - sadly the ones we liked made plenty of money - so we had to leave them alone. We were thwarted in our efforts to secure a juvenile hurdler as well - but that remains an ongoing project - and we hope to have something tied up soon. The start of July sees the return of some of the team in preparation for next winter. Figarella Borget, Getaway Mixie, Go Millie Go and Molly Childers are all back in their boxes, and looking well. They will do a few days walking before starting a mix of walk and trot, and then after about 3 weeks they will begin cantering. All three should be ready to run in late September/early October. Classic Ben will have an extra month - as he had a long hard season in 2018/19, and has proven that he acts on soft ground - he will be aimed at some very good staying chases this year. Queenohearts needs soft ground so she returns in early August, along with San Seb, who is being given every chance to get over his injury from Christmas. Our Bubba will return to work a month after that, as he needs a bit of extra time to get over his slight niggle as well. Another yearling arrives this week from France for one of our Investment syndicates - a gorgeous gelding by Coastal Path, out of a half sister to Raz De Maree, and the dam of 4 black type winners in Latitude. He is a very correct horse and joins the squad in good order from Mdm Cypres. He will be stored at the Elms Stud. Next week I will head up to Cheshire to see the Kayf Tara colt foal that we have secured for the same syndicate - and also the 3 yr old Flemensfirth that we purchased for a new syndicate a few weeks ago. This horse is currently with David And Claire Sherlock, who are breaking him in, he has now been backed, and is very much the model pupil. Hopefully he can go into training quite early as the pedigree suggests he could be an early type - he is a horse we like a lot - just our type - a handy horse - with great athleticism! Good Luck to the newly formed Ivo Partnership!!
