Monday 21 October

Just the one runner last week - land League went to Kempton yesterday as favourite for the 3m Handicap chase. Second on his previous 3 starts, over 2m4f it was thought that the step up was just what he wanted, but sadly it didn't work out. Held up off a slow pace, he jumped very well, and got into the race in his usual fashion entering the straight, only 2 stop after the second last. It seems the step up in trip was not the thing to do, and he didn't stay the trip. He will drop back to 2m4f, and we will change tactics. This week we have just the one entry - with Molly Childers having an entry in the 3m2f Desert Orchid Cup (a handicap chase) in Wincanton. She has jumped round the stiff track twice in the past, and although this looks a very competitive heat - she is likely to take her chance as there isn't much for her either over fences or hurdles for a week or two. Saying that the ground was very quick when Stuart was down there a couple of weeks ago, and if there is any good to firm in the going description on the day she will not run. We will be patient with her as it is only the start of a very long season! There are plans in place for a few - Classic Ben did his first proper piece of work on Saturday, and he needed it for sure. Stuart reports that he is getting very cute in hos 'old age', and will therefore travel for an away day tomorrow - the travel and the work will bring him on enormously. When this is under his belt, we can decide where his seasonal debut will be. Getaway Mixie is well, and although there is a possible race for her in 10 days - she will be given plenty of time, and head to Ludlow on the 14th of November. Go Millie Go is also in rude health, and there are 3 races for her between the 4th and the 8th of November and she will head to one of those. Good news re Figarella Borget who is recovering well from her run. She was sore afterwards, but is a lot better now, and although we will need to be patient with her - she is very much going the right way. Our Bubba looks fantastic, and is going well - just cantering - but he has matured into the most fantastic looking horse. Blue Bikini has arrived looking great, and Stuart has been quick to crack on - she was ridden when she arrived and is sure to be cantering in a few weeks. When she gets cantering we will arrange a couple of mornings for those that have taken shares to come along and see her. As it stands there is just a single share remaining - so get in touch if you would like to get involved in this gorgeous filly!! nickbrownracing@gmail.com. Our investment syndicates continue to thrive. We will be doing another share issue on the latest syndicate at the end of this month, with another one taken up while we were in Kempton yesterday. . We have some beautifully bred stock - including horses by such sires as Kayf Tara, Coastal Path, Jukebox Jury, and Masked Marvel. Our purchases continue, and we are continually searching for suitable candidates.
